The young monkey prince, Réko II, has a noble legacy to live up to. He was named in honor of a humble, sacrificial king who ruled the kingdom long ago, but Réko pays no attention to the tales of old. Influenced by greedy friends, he sees power as something to seize, and kingship as the authority to dominate others. When his father unexpectedly dies under suspicious circumstances, Réko ascends to the throne, his mind poisoned by arrogance, greed, and vengeance.
